Everett, WA · Whales and ferries, in watercolor
Emily Palmiter paints whales carrying ships. Sometimes a humpback with a stack of books on its back, sometimes an orca ferrying a ferry. Dorsal Fine Design is her studio in Everett, and the imagery comes from a fascination with the sea and everything colossal in it, natural and manmade, and the uneasy way those two share the water.
The stickers and magnets are reproductions of her original watercolors. Five percent of her art proceeds go to whale conservation, including the Center for Whale Research, which studies the Southern Resident orcas of Puget Sound.
"Through my art, I bring ships and whales together in a playful and imaginative way, inviting viewers to enjoy the imagery while also reflecting on the importance of reducing our impact on these magnificent giants."

Why we carry them
The orca ferry is the most Puget Sound image we have in the shop. People who grew up riding the boats get it instantly. And it is nice to sell a sticker that sends a little money toward the whales it's drawn from.
